Girls on the Run

This year, Shape's Diva Dash has teamed up with Girls on the Run, a program that empowers girls in third through eighth grade by giving them the skills and experiences necessary to navigate their world with confidence and joy. The goal of the program? To unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. That's something we can get behind!

Meeting twice a week in small teams, the curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and seeks to instill life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. Running is used to inspire the girls and to encourage lasting health and fitness. At the conclusion of each program cycle, the girls and their running buddies complete a 5k running event that provides them with a lifelong memory of accomplishment.

Girls on the Run currently delivers their life-changing program to 160,000 girls a year, and they aren't slowing down. In 2015, Girls on the Run will serve it's millionth girl and is marking the occasion with the One-in-a-Million campaign-a year-long celebration that commits to raise $1 million to serve its next million girls by 2020.
