The Tone It Up Girls Reveal Their All-Time Favorite Leggings, Sports Bras, and Sneakers

Katrina Scott and Karena Dawn, the bubbly duo behind Tone It Up, have taken the wellness scene by storm. Since the fitness and lifestyle brand's inception in 2009, Tone It Up has amassed a devoted fan base, including more than 1 million Instagram followers. But with many similar brands competing for visibility in such a saturated space, what makes theirs stand out? It could be the fun and energetic workout plans and protein-packed recipes. Perhaps it's the accessibility of their do-anywhere fitness videos, often filmed outdoors in front of sunny California backdrops, or their down-to-earth personalities that make tough workouts feel more approachable. Whatever it is, it's clearly working.

If you've ever watched one of Tone It Up's workout videos, chances are your attention quickly moved to Scott and Dawn's activewear. Though their approaches to fashion differ, they complement each other well. Scott describes her personal style as "sofa chic" (read: cozy), relying on comfy, soft staples in neutral tones, while Dawn defines hers as "street chic" because of her love of street style and "cool, edgy, dark" looks.

Their go-to retailers for workout apparel are Carbon38 and Bandier because they "have everything," said Dawn. "Onzie sports bras are really cute," says Dawn. "I feel like any time I wear an Onzie bra, people are like, 'oh my gosh, where'd you get your bra?'"

Dawn and Scott have been "long-time fans" of trendy apparel brand Avocado. Dawn says its leggings and tops are great for "fashion and fit", while Scott adds that "women will love the way they feel."

Favorite Sneakers

Scott swears by the Adidas Ultraboost sneakers for preventing shin splints. "They're so good for running," she said. "I don't run a lot, but I go to Barry's Bootcamp and they make you sprint. If I wear these I don't get shin splints, but if I wear anything else I will."

Beauty and Travel Must-Haves

Since many of Tone It Up's workout videos are filmed outdoors, sunscreen is an absolute must. Dawn uses Coola's organic BB cream because "you can just put it on and it makes your skin pearlescent, and it has SPF in it." She says she wears it on its own on her face and chest or mixes it with foundation, along with Coola's mineral spray sunscreen on the rest of her body, to ensure her skin's always protected.
