Venus Williams' New Clothing Line Was Inspired By Her Adorable Puppy
We talked to the tennis star about her just-launched collection for her activewear brand, EleVen.
You may know Venus Williams as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, but the seven-time grand slam champion also has a degree in fashion and has been creating stylish yet functional workout gear since she first launched her clothing line, EleVen, in 2007. Now, she's debuting the newest addition to her brand, a collection called Hari, inspired by her other love: her Havanese puppy, Harold.
"This is a special collection because it was a collaboration with my dog," she tells Shape exclusively. "In the design process, we were fielding through all these prints. Picking prints and colors is always the hardest! My dog Harold made the decision easy for me. He went right over to the print you now see in the Hari collection. He has a good eye-this print ended up giving these pieces such a strong energy." (Related: Why Venus Williams Won't Count Calories)
The funky new collection includes printed tanks, skirts, mesh leggings, sports bras, jackets, and hoodies, as well as solid separates in cobalt, black, gray, and lime green.
In addition to being fashion-focused, the Hari collection is also built on technical performance properties. "I love our tops because they're moisture-wicking, so they're comfortable and perfect even when you're breaking a sweat," Venus says. "Our sports bras are also my favorite. As an athlete, I understand the importance of support, and these are made with top-of-the-line tech that moves with you." (Fun sidenote: Her sister Serena also designs ultra-supportive sports bras!)
Best of all, almost every piece in the lineup is priced under $100 and are available to shop online today.
