One More Ride for Active Women
Normally, we advocate riding bikes or walking, but sometimes, you just have to drive to get where you're going. And when it comes to cars that fit an active lifestyle, they're not all created equal. That's why we came up with the Best Cars for Active Women. And it turns out, that's just a starting list. Trisha Calvo, our Executive Editor, has another to add to the list. Here's her take on what happened when she got behind the wheel of the 2011 Audi A8:
"My husband, John, and I dubbed it the "spa car" because it made what could have been a hellish trip a perfectly Zen experience. We were headed up to the Winvian spa in Morris, CT for a weekend of leaf peeping, hiking, biking, and R&R and left much later than we had planned. Of course, we got stuck in traffic‹and driving rain and wind made it worse than the usual Friday night gridlock. Normally, I'd be freaking out, but I was calm and comfy, thanks to the Audi's accoutrements. First, there was the Bang & Olufsen stereo system, which made the 80s playlist on my iPod sound really good. Then there were the power seats that you could adjust to fit your body in what seemed like 100 different ways‹and they had a massage feature! Most importantly, the car handled beautifully in the sketchy weather, so we (finally) arrived feeling safe and secure instead of frazzled. A spa on wheels? Worked for us.
