10 Workout Songs from CMA Awards Nominees

In light of the Country Music Association Awards, we put together an exercise playlist incorporating a variety of the year's contenders. If you're a casual country fan, the list below should help you brush up while you slim down. If you're a more than a casual listener, it'll give you some idea of what's at stake—and for whom—on the big night.

Most fitness playlists emphasize momentum, but this one (like most country music) is heavier on mood. Rather than cranking up beats to get yourself moving, you can head out for a run and get lost in the stories and rhythm from Kacey Musgraves, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood. While none of these story songs top 120 beats per minute (BPM), there are others that do from Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, and the Eli Young Band. So, if you're doing cardio and looking for something that approximates your pace, you can start with one of those instead.

Whether it's the narratives or the tempos that draw you in, the songs below provide a quick introduction to country's biggest stars so that you can catch up on the best tracks of the year, decide for whom you're going to root, and squeeze in a workout all at once. When you're ready to get started, the artists and songs are listed below along with some of the categories in which they'll be competing.
