Even if poetry's not your thing, you probably know the words by Alfred Tennyson, "'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." One can only hope this sentiment is shared by the breakthrough artists in the playlist below. After all, they may have only produced one hit each, but that's still one more than most bands and singers will ever have.

While all of the songs featured here are upbeat in spirit, some are more uptempo in speed. To that end, runners will favor those songs above 130 beats per minute (BPM), namely the fast tracks from one-time Michael Jackson guitarist Orianthi and another from the aptly-named Alice Deejay. For slower workouts-anything focusing on flexibility or strength training-you'll have better luck with tracks like Lumidee's "Never Leave You" or the Jay-Z remix of Panjabi MC's "Beware." Or if your pace falls somewhere in between, there are a handful of recognizable songs with BPMs in the 120s to fit the bill.

In all, one hit wonders are comfort food of music: easy, fun, and familiar. Even if you don't need a full playlist of them, you might still throw a couple into your existing mix for when you need a quick pick-me-up along your running route.
