Enlightened Just Launched Keto Ice Cream Pints
You no longer have to live on homemade keto ice cream.
Things are looking up for ice cream-lovers on a high-fat, low-carb diet. Enlightened just launched keto ice cream flavors at grocery stores nationwide. (Related: Keto Dessert Recipes That Definitely Don't Taste Low-Carb)
The company came out with seven new pints, including coffee and cream, mint chocolate chunk, chocolate glazed donut, red velvet, peanut butter fudge, chocolate peanut butter, and butter pecan. In the fall, Enlightened will add keto ice cream bars to the mix in dark chocolate, marshmallow peanut butter, mint chocolate chip, and peanut butter chocolate chip. Enlightened already offered some of the most keto-friendly ice creams at the grocery store, since they're sweetened with monk fruit and erythritol (a sugar alcohol), which are both low-carb. But the new pints are even lower in carbs at just 1 net carb per serving. The new keto ice creams are also higher in fat (15-18 grams per serving vs 1.5-4.5 grams) and lower in protein (2-4 grams vs 4-7 grams).
While the new pints will obviously appeal to the keto crowd, they might also win favor from another group: people who want to like "macro-friendly" ice cream but don't think it's creamy enough. The first ingredient in each keto Enlightened pint is cream, whereas the brand's existing flavors mostly use a base of skim milk (which also explains why the new keto pints are higher in fat). You can score the new keto ice cream pints for $6 each at Whole Foods, Publix, Stop & Shop, and other grocery stores. You can also buy the new flavors on Enlightened's website, where the company is running a deal on single-flavor 8-packs and variety packs for the launch.
