When it comes to making a smoothie, it can be a balanced, healthy drink or meal-or it can be a nutritionless sugar bomb that leaves you hungry in an hour. Key point: Choose your ingredients wisely.

There's actually one cup of frozen cauliflower rice inside this glass. The best part? You can't even taste it when it's blended with the rest of the smoothie ingredients, which makes it the sneakiest (and best) way to get in your veggies. The cauliflower adds fiber, vitamins, minerals, and sulforaphane, which research says may be protective against cancer. The drink also has a delicious dose of blueberries, which are rich in anthocyanins, flavanols, fiber, vitamin K, and manganese. Organic pomegranate powder not only adds a yummy flavor to this smoothie, it's also high in potential tumor-fighting ellagic acid, and it's a good source of vitamin K, vitamin C, and folate. You'll also be getting plant-based omega-3 fatty acids and an additional boost of fiber from the flaxseed in this smoothie. And, last but not least, it's got collagen peptides, which are rich in the amino acids that make up collagen, which is naturally found in the body and helps joint and skin health.

Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 10 oz unsweetened organic almond milk
  • 1 scoop collagen peptides
  • 2 tablespoons flaxseed
  • 1 cup frozen organic cauliflower rice
  • 1/2 cup frozen organic wild blueberries
  • 2 teaspoons organic pomegranate powder
  • Stevia to taste

Directions

  1. Add ingredients to Vitamix or other high-speed blender and blend until emulsified.
  2. Adjust stevia to taste.
  3. Pour into a glass. Slurp and enjoy.
