Starbucks Drops a Spooky New Frappuccino Just In Time for Halloween
Great for Instagram. Not so great for your blood sugar.
If you thought Starbucks' Zombie Frappuccino was scary last year, wait until you see what they have on tap for Halloween this season. The spooky new concoction that dropped yesterday is fittingly dubbed the Witch's Brew Frappuccino.
The bright purple drink is made with an orange crème frappuccino base instead of coffee, making it completely caffeine free. As the coffee giant explains in their press release, the crème is then dyed purple and swirled with green "bat warts," aka chia seeds. And finally, it's topped with vanilla whipped cream as well as green "lizard scale" powder (which is actually matcha powder) to make it look even more hocus-pocusy. So what does it taste like? Basically liquefied Halloween candy. Take a look:
Don't be fooled by the chia seeds and matcha-this is no health elixir. You probably already know that frappuccinos are a high-calorie indulgence, and at 390 calories and 53 grams of sugar, this one is no exception. (Here are some helpful tips to lighten up your coffee order.)
This spooky drink is available for a limited time only at Starbucks stores in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
