Starbucks' New Toasted White Chocolate Mocha Must Have Been Created by Santa Himself
This sweet sip has us craving cold weather and shopping madness.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is yesterday's news with the release of Starbucks' limited-time-only holiday drink: the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha. After the launch of Starbucks' "Give Good" holiday cup, it is only fitting that consumers have something festive and comforting to go with it. We did an in-house taste-test to see if this drink fits the bill, and the short answer is a resounding yes.
We all know that aesthetically-pleasing products are Starbucks' specialty. Their cult-worthy fanbase posts their products all over social media. And the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha sure is pretty. Before taking my first sip, I removed the lid to find a beautiful ribboned layer of whip cream decorated with bits of candied cranberry sugar. After snapping a few pictures of my own (guilty as charged), I popped the lid back into place and took my first sip. After my unpleasant experience with Starbucks' Halloween drink the Zombie Frap, I was admittedly nervous about a new seasonal offering, but having tried Starbucks' regular White Chocolate Mocha, I somewhat knew what I was getting myself into.
The Toasted White Chocolate Mocha was smooth and sweet, with an enjoyable crunch of the candied cranberry sugar. Thankfully, the sweetness was not overpowering- it's balanced out by the mocha flavor. What separates this drink different from the regular White Chocolate Mocha is the caramelization (or "toasted" flavor) of the white chocolate, which makes for a nutty note.
The Toasted White Mocha is also available for those who prefer their coffee cold. But if neither a hot or cold Toasted White Chocolate Mocha is your vibe, hope is not lost. During the season of giving, Starbucks has basically blessed us all with a holiday drinks menu. Between the Chestnut Praline Latte, Caramel Brulée Latte, Gingerbread Latte, Eggnog Latte, and the Peppermint Mocha, you have all the more reason to go gift shopping or snuggle up by the fire-drink of choice in hand.
