Sticking to your healthy eating New Year's resolutions is about to get a whole lot easier
If your 2016 resolutions involve some combination of healthy eating and getting in shape, Sakara Life just gifted you a belated Christmas present. Today, the nutritious, organic meal delivery service announced a nationwide expansion, meaning that you can enjoy an everything seed bagel with cashew cream no matter where you live in the country. Previously, only those living in major cities including Boston, Miami, New York City, and Los Angeles could order the program. (Are Food Delivery Apps Making Us Slimmer?)
The entrepreneurial endeavor, which founders Danielle DuBoise and Whitney Tingle launched in 2012 with just $700, quickly developed a loyal following (Victoria's Secret Angel Lily Aldridge included) with its philosophy of a clean lifestyle without restrictive eating or feelings of guilt. All dishes are plant-based and free of dairy, gluten, pesticides, chemicals, additives, and preservatives.
You have two meal plan options. If you're just starting, "Taste It", which lets you order a single meal program, might be your best bet, while those who are already fans might want to opt for "Live It", which lets you subscribe to a recurring weekly meal service. With prices starting at $65 per day, the programs aren't an inexpensive option, but if you're making a commitment for the new year, they can be worth it. "On January 1st, most people are looking for a change and it usually starts with food," DuBoise told Shape. "[Sakara Life] makes eating delicious, nutrient-packed foods effortless to help you stay on track and meet your goals."
Don't want full meals? The company's online Clean Boutique, which launched in November, has healthy snacks (yes, watermelon jerky exists), drinks (detox tea, please!), and superfood salad dressings.
