This week I've been posting about ways to help bridge the health behavior gap – in other words how to be more successful at following through with your health-related goals. Without a doubt one of the most powerful tools is support. Over the years I've had a lot of clients who left my office feeling confident and motivated but wound up struggling or not following through because they didn't have the day to day support they need from their family members, friends or co-workers.

Hopefully you're reading this blog because Shape.com is one of your support destinations. But you may not be aware of everything the site has to offer. In addition to the blogs there are forums and groups (click on community), tools and calculators (click on weight loss).

One new study found that the more people used an interactive weight management website, the more weight loss they maintained. And if you can connect with someone online who is going through the same thing you're going through and understands your goals it can really help to get you through those rough days!

How do you use the Shape web site or other web sites (or apps?) for support? What helps you feel supported? What are your other key support systems? Has a lack of support ever hindered your progress? Please share your thoughts!
