Progress in Forward Gear
It's been awhile since I sat down long enough to write anything. I spent several months recouping from a bad ankle injury. I am back in the gym full swing now.
The time off was very beneficial for me. I found I am a lot stronger for taking the months off of training. I had become so driven at times to be what others expected of me that I lost sight of the overall picture of why I became my fitness journey in the first place. Needless to say, my direction and attention is back on track.
I've noticed a great number of people I know and don't know have trouble staying motivated to be fit. I think it is one of the easiest things to change once a person puts their minds to changing HOW THEY THINK. If you go day after day after day defeated, then you will be defeated day after day after day. Not to sound too brassy, but if working out and staying fit were easy....everyone would be fit and fine. Truth is, it is work sometimes to maintain a good attitude and KNOW you will succeed. It's not enough to BELIEVE you can...you gotta KNOW IT!
So, here I am, just turned 51 in July, on my 6th year since I began my life fitness journey and I am sitting on ready and locked on GO! If you are waiting on me, you are backing up!
And as for my braces, I get them probably in November or December. I have been in my appliance for 7 months now and grown an incredible amount of bone and tissue. The gums that were receding are not anymore and it is absolutely amazing the progress and speed it is going at my age. It is like getting a face lift in the process because the new bone is changing the whole structure of my face. Needless to say, I am glad I am going through all the discomfort knowing it is only temporary. I will be in the braces about 12-15 months and well, that is NoT a lot of time. When most people my age will be having their teeth pulled, I will be smiling like a oppossum eating grapes!!!
Okay, I am off to Thailand on the 10th of September for lots of fun. I am sure I will have lots to talk about when I get back. I plan on eating a bug just to say I did it. They weren't in season when we went last year. Life is GREAT!
Hugs 2 u!
