When it comes to getting healthy and losing weight, there's no doubt that the best way to do it is through healthy diet and exercise, but what if you need to drop a few pounds before a big event? And, of course, that big event is just weeks or days away. What do you do? While crash dieting is never advised, following a short and focused eating plan can help you to drop a few pounds. Here are three plans, including the popular 17-Day Diet plan, that promise results– fast.

3 Short-Term Diets

17 Day Diet

There are definitely pros and cons to the 17 Day Diet plan. However, it can be a great healthy eating jumpstart or a way to ramp up for that high school reunion you want to look good for.

The 4 Day Diet

While this diet actually lasts 28 days– not four– it's still a short-term diet that can work. Built on the idea that traditional diets are boring, The 4 Day Diet switches up your eating plan every four days. While it's designed for you to go through seven, four-day cycles for a total of 28 days, you could easily try it for just eight or 12 days to fit your schedule.

The Four-Hour Bod

More of a total weight-loss plan than just nutrition, this book details tips and tricks to improve your workout, your sleep, your love life and your diet in the most efficient way possible. The author Tim Ferriss says his way of healthy living only takes four hours of "work" or preparation a week!
