Three Must-Have Hand Soaps
I don't know about you, but living in a city full of germs has admittedly contributed to my not-so-mild hand-washing obsession. As a result, against all of my effortless claims of "going-green," I also have developed an insanely obscene addiction to paper towel usage. Since when did a dish towel not become good enough? I swear, if the authorities could hand out citations for the amount of individual paper squares discarded into one's trash bin on a daily basis, I surely would be sitting behind bars.
Note to self: Need to make a change. And quick.
But on to the real point of why I'm writing today ... the oh-so-important subject of hand soap. When you develop an obsession with an action, such as washing your hands, along with that comes a self-consuming passion with the way your hands smell afterward. Trust me when I say that the following recommendations will leave you smiling, clean and smelling fresh from all of the day's nastiness that you hold in your hands.
In order of obsession:
Lather. Rinse. No need to repeat. You can't go wrong wtih any of the scents from Mrs. Meyers. For a delicious lingering after scent try the Basil or the Lavender. All of Mrs. Meyers products are made from plant-derived ingredients and natural essential oils. Not only do these soaps smell sensationally, they are good for you, your home and the planet (justifably making up for my paper towel problem!). Order online at Soap.com or visit your local grocery or drugstore where these soaps are commonly found.
Beautifully clean. Elegantly green. Are you sensing a theme here? It goes for all things in life; when you suck at one thing (think paper towels), make up for it in an area in which you are better (green products). Caldrea is a lovingly senstive brand that promises no harsh chemicals or fragrances. It's a simple, stylish and fresh approach to cleaning your hands in a fragrant collection of your own choosing. What am I using now? The Sea Salt Neroli is in my kitchen and the Sandalwood Riceflower is in my bathroom.
Just when you thought you couldn't do anymore good for the planet, EO is here to bring you the best of what nature has to offer. Check out your closest Whole Foods for scents like Peppermint & Tea Tree (containing aloe vera, peppermint essential oil, tea tree oil, chamomile, white tea and calendula ... phew, isn't that a mouthful of exquisiteness?) or Chocolate & Mint. I have no words for the chocolate scent; I've never smelled anything quite like it. Just be careful not to eat yourself after cleansing.
