5 Fall Fashion Tips
Celebrity stylist Jeanne Yang has worked with Brooke Shields and is credited with Katie Holmes's amazing style transformation (she's now designing a new clothing line with the fashionista.) But she says you don't need to have a million-dollar movie contract to look Hollywood glam. Just follow these tips:
Work the bootie
Don't want to splurge on a pair of tall boots? The low shoe-bootie adds a funky edge to dresses or pants. "These are perfect as we transition from summer to fall, when the weather can be unpredictable," says Yang.
Find your palette
Want to break out of the basic black rut, but worried about your clothes clashing with your coloring? Luckily, warm, brown hues are the must-have shade this season! This color family suits most skin tones and flatters a fading faux tan.
Tie one on
Scarves are a simple way to freshen up last year's wardrobe, while warding off a chill. "Whether it's with a white t-shirt or a cute dress, an extra long thin scarf tied loosely around the neck is the perfect accessory," says Yang. This season's hottest styles have tassels.
Dress it up
Don't put your summer dresses away just yet! Wear your warm-weather pieces into fall by pairing them with cozy cardigans and boots. Throw on a dress over leggings, which are still big this season.
Keep going barelegged
Hate wearing hose or tights but your legs are starting to look a little cool-weather scaly? Give them a little glow and make them smoother by applying a combo of bronzer, body lotion and self-tanner. "This mixture evens out skin tone, hides imperfections and helps you look slimmer," says Yang.
