The Best Spray Sunscreens That Won't Dry Out Your Skin

The Best Sun Protection Sprays

When choosing the best sunscreen—whether it's a lotion or a spray—there are three commandments that should be followed, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Look for a formula that's water-resistant, offers broad-spectrum protection, and has an SPF of at least 30. But there are a few additional factors to keep in mind if you're trying to find the best spray sunscreen. First off, most sprays contain alcohol which is a common skin irritant, according to dermatologist Deanne Robinson, M.D., of Modern Dermatology of Connecticut, so it pays to read ingredient lists. And bonus points if you can find a spray that comes in a non-aerosol bottle. "I'm not a fan of aerosol sunscreens because it takes several layers to get the level of protection achieved with a lotion," says Dr. Robinson. "That said, there are non-aerosol pump sprays that offer the convenience of a spray with better protection and less chemical exposure."

Admittedly that's a lot to keep in mind. If you don't know where to start, keep scrolling for the best sunblock sprays on the market.
