Chic Pieces from Cynthia Rowley's New Activewear Line
Cynthia Rowley Dishes On Rowley Fitness
Fashion designer Cynthia Rowley is known for her bright and fun styles, so an activewear collection made perfect sense for the Soul Cycle-loving designer. "Fitness is already so much a part of my life, so I’m excited to be able to promote a healthy lifestyle for everyone," she told us in an exclusive interview. Rowley started making wetsuits six years ago with Quicksilver/Roxy, and thanks to the success of her surf and swimwear, we know she can produce quality active gear. Need more proof? The new line launches at cynthiarowley.com and in stores on April 10.
The styles are so fashion-forward, you might forget you're wearing workout gear! "When creating my own fitness line, I wanted it to look elevated from a fashion standpoint, incorporating elements from our ready-to-wear collection, but of course with all the functional attributes that make it great for fitness," Rowley explained.
Performance was key for Rowley, who made sure the fabrics do everything you expect from your favorite workout gear. "The fabrics are lightweight, sweat-wicking, and use four-way stretch technology with added lycra for extra memory, so it doesn't stretch out over time. Everything is also designed not to shrink."
Gold Foil Cropped Leggings
Technical features like wide waistbands that don’t dig in, hidden zip pockets with lining that deflects harmful radiation from your devices, and racerback tops allow you to move and twist with ease, Rowley said.
Floral Print Leggings
And the designer tested everything herself to make sure it was functional, "mostly because I couldn’t wait to wear the stuff!" But she also held numerous focus groups with fitness instructors and experts to ensure it performed up to—above—par.
A Sexy Psychedelic Wetsuit
Wetsuits are a specialty of Rowley's. "Our wetsuits are 2 mm with welded seams, SPF 50+, fully functional, and have been worn by many pro surfers—but they're also perfect for girls who wear them just for fun…and they make everyone look amazing!" she told us (she just so happens to be a surfer herself). The neoprene sucks everything in, so you don't have to worry about extra jiggle.
The Ultimate Jumpsuit
Most of the items are designed for your toughest sweat sesh, but the jumpsuits are meant to be worn more as cover-ups to and from the gym. "But I might wear mine with heels at night!" says Rowley. So go ahead—you have her permission.
Gold Foil Sports Bra
What's Rowley's favorite item from the new line? "I’m most excited about wearing anything with gold foil—leggings, sports bras, shorts, and tees." We are too!
