'Constellation Acne' Is the New Way Women Are Embracing Their Skin
Forget #flawless. This illustrator is highlighting her so-called imperfections on Instagram in the most celestial way ever.
If you've ever had the pleasure of experiencing acne-whether it's one giant hormonal zit that pops up at that time of the month every month, or just a bunch of blackheads that sprinkle up on your nose-you likely understand the immediate urge to hide the evidence with as much concealer as you can find. If you're feeling bold (or just lazy), maybe you've said "screw it," forgoing makeup, Alicia Keys style. What you probably haven't done? Drawn on your face with eyeliner to accentuate your acne for the world to see.
But that's exactly what Izumi Tutti, a French body-positive illustrator, did with her "acne constellation" art on Instagram. And it has made acne not only embraceable but downright beautiful. Tutti used a bright, teal-blue eyeliner to quite literally connect the dots, creating a beautiful design across her face, Teen Vogue reports. The result, as you can see, is totally celestial, ethereal, and body-positive, serving as a reminder that what someone thinks is a flaw can actually (and in this case, literally) be a work of art.
Even if you don't plan on actually drawing extra attention to your own pimples, you can still learn something from Tutti's look. As she says in one of her IG captions, "I can't control my pimples, but I can change the look I have on them." Bottom line: Embracing your flaws is always beautiful, no matter how you choose to do so.
