If you've dipped your toe into the waters of #HairTok — the side of TikTok where users routinely share their favorite treatments for keeping their strands strong and hydrated — then you've probably seen plenty of videos praising the powers of Olaplex. The brand's line of nourishing, damage-repairing products has earned a major following for a reason: They really work. The only catch is, they don't come cheap — and according to some, there might be a far more affordable hair-care hero that's even ″better than Olaplex."

In a video that's garnered more than five million views to date, TikTok user @caseyyisfetchh demonstrated how she applies Korean beauty brand Elizavecca's Milky Piggy Collagen Coating Protein Hair Serum (Buy It, $10, amazon.com) to her air-dried hair, calling it a "game-changer." And she's not alone in her love for the leave-in product: It's garnered more than 700 five-star ratings on Amazon, with users specifically comparing it to the more expensive Olaplex. (

"I can't believe my ends are silky soft without frizz for four days, even on my neck," wrote one five-star reviewer. "I use just a little bit on towel-wet hair at the ends. Then, after air-drying, I straighten my hair at a low temperature, and five days later my hair looks and smells great. Olaplex did not even do half the job as this product, especially on over-processed hair."

Elizavecca's serum isn't a bond repairer like Olaplex, but rather a protein treatment, which can be especially beneficial to hair that's been damaged by heat styling or bleach. Its key ingredients are keratin (the protein that composes hair strands) and pig collagen, a gelatin-like ingredient derived from pigs — so, no, the product isn't vegan. This ingredient isn't entirely unusual FWIW, since many forms of collagen found in hair- and skin-care products — including Jennifer Aniston's favorite powdered supplement — come from animals. While there's not a ton of clinical evidence surrounding the benefits of collagen for hair health, many people (including Khloe Kardashian) have found it to be a helpful ingredient for counteracting hair loss.

Shoppers seem to agree that the Elizavecca serum makes their hair soft, reduces frizz, and "doesn't leave your hair feeling like there's product in it." It's so lightweight that some reviewers even use it every day. "It makes my hair so shiny and healthy," wrote one user, who also called it a "miracle hair product in a tube."

For those who need even more moisture, the brand offers a deep conditioning mask in the same line, Elizavecca CER-100 Collagen Coating Hair Protein Treatment (Buy It, $8, amazon.com), which has more than 8,600 five-star reviews, with many calling it "better than Olaplex." Since this mask is intended to be washed out, it can be used in conjunction with the serum. If you want to make your hair stronger, softer, and frizz-free, this budget-friendly serum might just be the "holy grail" product you've been searching for.
