Power heels, nightly baths, family time—here’s what keeps New York City dermatologist Dendy Engelman on top of her game.

"I have always been fascinated with fashion and beauty,” says Dendy Engelman, M.D., a top dermatologist who counts Sofía Vergara as one of her patients. “I grew up in the South, where ladies in my family and in church were always dressed to the nines. My momma says that I started doing my own hair at 2 years old and would sneak into her vanity and apply makeup.” (Related: This Anti-Aging Serum Has More 5-Star Reviews Than Any Other Skin-Care Product On Amazon)

These days, Dr. Engelman’s love for style hasn’t dwindled. “I live in high heels: I work 10-hour days and run around with my children in them because they make me feel strong and emboldened,” she says.

Another thing that keeps the doctor happy is a face mask or an eye mask, like SiO Super EyeLift face patches (Buy It, $25 for two packs, shop.goop.com). “I think of beauty treatments as armor, protecting me from anything bothersome,” she says.

She also sinks into a bath every evening—usually with a glass of cabernet sauvignon. “It’s my mental reset. I add magnesium salts to the water, which make me feel so relaxed. Red wine helps too.” (Here's how to concoct the best post-workout bath ever.)

As soon as she gets out of the tub, she applies Bio-Oil Skincare Oil (Buy It, $15, target.com) all over her body. “I started using it when I was pregnant because it can help prevent stretch marks, and I still love how it makes my skin so soft,” she says. “I also find ways to fit beauty into my day: getting a blowout while I fill in charts or wearing a sheet mask in the car. These moments are critical to restoring me and combating burnout.” (Related: The Eye Gel That Helped Majorly Lighten My Dark Circles)

When it comes to anti-aging, Engelman swears by Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules (Buy It, $84, ulta.com), which she uses nightly, and ISDIM Flavo-C Ultraglican (Buy It, $112, amazon.com), an anti-aging serum she slathers on before sunscreen in the AM.

The other half of her radiance equation, however, is her relationships. (Science backs it up: Research Shows That Friendships Are Key to Lasting Health and Happiness)

“I am an off-the-charts, type A extrovert, so I search for happiness through accomplishments and praise from others. But what brings me the most joy and confidence now are my children, husband, and parents,” she says. “My kind, smart, devoted momma always says, ‘It’s not how you look; it’s how you feel about how you look,’ and I completely agree.”
