The Surprising Food You Can Use to Shave Your Legs

It’s tights season now, but if Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction is to be believed, we’ll be bare-legged in no time. Pro: We’re getting tired of this cold business. Con: That means we’ll actually have to keep up with shaving our legs. Oh, the joys of being a woman. While we typically reach for shave gel, we recently heard about another option for those times when the canister’s empty. Here’s the deal.

What you need: Creamy peanut butter and a new razor.

What you do: In the shower, apply a very thin layer of peanut butter to your legs and shave as usual. Heads up: You’ll have to rinse out the razor pretty thoroughly every few swipes, as the blades get clogged easily.

Why you might try it: If you don’t have your normal gel lying around, peanut butter works shockingly well, as its high oil content is extra-hydrating. Since it’s kind of a mess, we wouldn’t recommend it as a primary hair-removal tool, but in a pinch it certainly does the job.

Peanut butter: Is there anything it can’t do?
