The Ultimate Guide to Concealing Undereye Circles
Conceal those pesky dark undereye circles with these pro makeup artist tips for every complexion, from Lupita Nyong'o to Emma Watson
In over a decade of working as a professional makeup artist, I've encountered endless gorgeous complexions: Seeing how beauty shines through in every shade is part of what makes my job so rewarding. But, it can be difficult to find makeup to perfectly suit each of these infinite variations. It can be especially challenging when it comes to that most common of conundrums: concealing undereye circles.
Ahead, I've laid out a basic guide to get you started on finding the right cover-up just for this purpose. The first thing to do is figure out your skin color and undertones. Your skin may be medium, for example, but your undertones could be warm, cool, or neutral. And, if they're warm, they could be closest to yellow, gold, or orange.
One way to determine your coloring is to compare it with that of some of the marvelous leading ladies in this slideshow. If it's not immediately obvious, try holding up at least three pieces of different-colored paper next to your face in the mirror. If a yellow hue best matches your skin, chances are, you're warm. If green is a better fit, then you could be olive. Be aware that if you've got redness from the weather or lack of sleep, that doesn't necessarily mean your undertones are red or pink.
Makeup really is like painting-it follows basic color theory. With that in mind, click through to find the perfect concealer for you. [Read the full story on Refinery29!]
