If you call yourself a sneakerhead, you're probably familiar with the chic creeper sneakers Rihanna designed for Puma. Even if you're just a casual sneaker admirer, you've likely seen them since these badass low platform sneaks are pretty hard to miss. (Here, find more edgy sneakers that will seriously up your athleisure game.)

Not only have these kicks been spotted on the feet of celebs (Cara Delevingne, the Hadid sisters, and Jessica Alba to new a few), but they're also a favorite of the fashion set. Rihanna even showed them on the runway during her fashion week show for her Fenty collection. This style is so well-loved, in fact, that the first time they went on sale they sold out within hours. And each time they've been restocked and available for sale since, they've sold out. Needless to say, they're pretty popular, but now it's official, as the sneakers were just announced as "Shoe of the Year," by an announcement from Footwear News.

This is the shoe industry publication's third year giving the award, and so far, every winner has been a sneaker. Crazy, right? But also good news for those of us who like to wear sneakers on the reg. In 2015, the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350, designed by Kanye West, took the top prize, and 2014's winner was the still-trendy Adidas Stan Smith sneaker. So what does this tell you? Well, if we had to guess, it means athleisure is here to stay. From the runway to lingerie, it seems like activewear is making its entrance and nesting up for a while in pretty much every part of the fashion industry. Besides, why wear painfully impractical high heels when sneakers are literally winning prizes for being the best? Seems like a no-brainer to us.
