This Body Positive Advocate Wants You to Stop Striving for the Perfect Angle
"I am learning to embrace ALL of me so that I can be at peace with every angle, crease, lump, bump, scar, roll, and pound."
We've all shared that dreadful moment when we've accidentally opened our front-facing camera to find a double chin and flared nostrils staring back at us. While that may not be our most attractive angle, this body positive influencer is urging us to embrace it nonetheless.
"When I accidentally open my front facing camera vs when I'm posing for that perfect selfie," Allison Kimmey captioned a before-and-after picture of herself. "Both of these are me. Undoubtedly. But years of brainwashing has me feeling like only one of these is worthy of being seen, appreciated, loved and showcased." Kimmey, whose Instagram is full of inspirational messages promoting self-love, wants us to see that our bodies (and angles) are beautiful in all ways, not just when they seem to fit society's unrealistic standard of beauty.
"Just like our bodies, we can't pick and choose to like some things and not others," she continues. "The goal is a HOLISTIC self-love...meaning I am learning to embrace ALL of me so that I can be at peace with every angle, crease, lump, bump, scar, roll, and pound."
"So the next time you open your phone and accidentally have your camera on and catch a glimpse of a double or maybe triple chin...just say "hey girl you fine no matter what angle!" And get along with your beautiful self."
