When you hear the word "retrograde," chances are the planet that comes to mind is Mercury. That's because three to four times a year, for three weeks at a time, Mercury retrograde throws a wrench in communication, transportation, and technology as it appears to move backward in the sky from your vantage point on earth. But the other planets, which each rule different areas of life, go retrograde, as well, and the next one up to bat is Jupiter, the planet of luck.

From April 10 to August 11, Jupiter will be retrograde in the fire sign Sagittarius, known for its adventurous, joyful, free-spirited nature. Fittingly, the largest planet in our solar system oversees expansive, big-picture, optimistic thinking, abundance, and prosperity. When it moves forward, or is direct, it tends to have an exaggerating, amplifying effect on external matters. For instance, if it's in your fifth house of romance, it could crank up your number of Bumble matches or make it easier to enjoy impromptu, sexy fun with your S.O. But when it moves backward, which occurs about once a year for four months at a time, its expansive effect influences more internal activities, like reflecting on your personal philosophies, development, and spirituality. All this soul-searching is key to making your boldest aspirations a reality. That said, if you've been wanting to start meditating, improve how you manage stress through a regular yoga practice, or just get more consistent, restful sleep, you can harness the power of Jupiter's retrograde.

Here's how you can take advantage of this horizon-broadening astrological moment and boost your mind-body wellness, based on your sign.

Aries (March 21–April 19)

Jupiter will be retrograde in your ninth house of adventure and higher education, encouraging you to reflect on the ways you're getting out of your comfort zone and learning new skills. If it's been a while since you've traveled, tried a new fitness routine, or researched different ways to address ongoing concerns like stress, you'll itch to explore a new path. But instead of immediately booking a flight, a boxing class, or an acupuncture session, you'll do well to meditate on what you need out of the experience in the long-run—like a sustainable feeling of empowerment, independence, or centeredness. This serves to further fuel your motivation.

Taurus (April 20–May 20)

Jupiter's retrograde occurs in your eighth house of transformation, intimate relationships, and sex, promoting some heavy-hitting reflection on all of these areas of life. Consider ways your closest bonds are serving—or detracting from—your sense of personal power and growth. It's the perfect time to get honest with yourself about any toxic friendships or romantic entanglements. Recognizing then excising them could prove stress-busting in and of itself, plus make room for more self-care and more fulfilling physical and emotional connections.

Gemini (May 21–June 20)

This year's Jupiter retrograde affects your seventh house of partnership, stirring you to meditate on your long-term goals and growth related to your one-on-one relationships—with a lover, best friend, or business partner. Ask yourself how you're most fulfilled by these bonds and how they're falling short in terms of supporting your big-picture dreams. You tend to intellectualize, but tuning into your intuition on this makes for the most honest realizations. You'll get a sense of clarity and groundedness that leads to wellness benefits across the board—from getting more Zs to feeling more energized. Cancer (June 21–July 22)

Jupiter's retrograde through your sixth house of wellness turns your focus to your work-life balance and daily efforts to care for your health. You may want to reevaluate existing routines on the basis of whether or not they're offering you the sense of calm and centeredness you need. For instance, if hiking with a friend, taking more baths, or trying energy work feels more restorative and revitalizing than using a meditation app, lifting, or taking Vinyasa classes right now, explore and experiment. Doing what feels right, as opposed to what might be the most logical game plan, can do wonders for your spirit in the short- and long-term.

Leo (July 23–August 22)

While Jupiter is retrograde in your fifth house of romance and fun, give thought to the ways you've been experiencing joy, spontaneity, pleasure, and creativity. If a relationship rut isn't sitting right with you, or you're feeling stifled in any way when it comes to your artistic instincts and self-expression, now's the time to recognize that and make a positive change. Prioritize anything that lights you up—whether that's a dance class, grabbing brunch with your BFFs, or sending flirty texts. Embracing your need for playfulness is key, as it really does feed your wellbeing mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Virgo (August 23–September 22)

Jupiter's retrograde through your fourth house of home life can slow down the pace of your life in a significant but pleasurable way. You'll be focused on how you can make your home even more of a sanctuary (maybe by adding new organizational systems, plants, a meditation corner) and foster relationships with your loved ones (scheduling more FaceTime calls or cooking together). Getting more centered in both of those areas of life can have you feeling more comfortable and supported, which lends itself to a well-deserved, sweet sense of peacefulness. Libra (September 23–October 22)

This Jupiter retrograde lights up your third house of communication, and you'll be reflecting on the ways you connect with others and express your most creative ideas. If you feel like you're not truly being heard and seen by certain people in your orbit, meditate on what might be missing in that relationship and how you can think about it differently or move forward. The inner work you'll be driven to do is around owning your voice and feeling more confident about what you bring to the table in your everyday interactions. Enjoying your favorite form of self-expression (be it journaling or art) can support your efforts.

Scorpio (October 23–November 21)

This Jupiter retrograde is in your second house of income, urging you to meditate on your values and how they align with your daily hustle. If you feel like the avenues through which you've been pursuing your professional goals and bringing in cash haven't been 100 percent feeding your spirit, now's the time to take a step back and envision the path that would actually promote happiness and, in turn, success. Reflection and planning around this can strengthen your sense of purpose and promote inner tranquility.

Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)

Jupiter's retrograde in your sign gets your wheels turning around self-image, identity, and the most powerful ways to best express both. This is a time for self-examination, being true to yourself, and exploring what makes you tick and what fuels your passion. Once you have your answers, you'll want to play around with different ways to project all of that into the world—maybe giving your professional, wellness, or spirituality routine a makeover. In turn, you can set yourself up for manifesting your wildest dreams.

Capricorn (December 22–January 19)

While Jupiter retrograde is in your twelfth house of spirituality, you may need to slow your typically nonstop, aggressive work and fitness routine. You'll feel stirred to take more time for yourself and find the merit in a quieter, self-reflective activity like meditation, time in nature, breathing exercises, talk therapy, or any kind of gentle movement you prefer. Tending to your mental and emotional well-being—and discovering how you do this best—now can actually help take your definition of strong and fit to the next level. Aquarius (January 20–February 18)

Jupiter's retrograde through your eleventh house of friendship, wishes, and dreams encourages you to revisit volunteer work you've done before, group fitness classes you loved, previously-discussed travel plans with your BFFs, and any long-term passion projects that have been put on the backburner. Reflecting on whether or not these activities and aspirations contribute to your overall joy and personal growth can help you zero in on the ones you want to pursue the most. Streamlining your efforts not only minimizes stress but promotes a feeling of focus and purpose.

Pisces (February 19–March 20)

While Jupiter is retrograde in your tenth house of career, you'll be reflecting on your professional goals and reputation. It might be time to switch up your focus, pursue existing goals from a new angle, or hone your skills by taking a class or working one-on-one with a mentor. At the same time, work-life balance is especially important now, so you'll be even more successful by building in time for fitness and self-care. Feeling accomplished in these ways, as well, only serves to amplify your self-esteem, positive energy, and in turn, motivation. (Related: 9 Smart Career Tips for a Bright, Successful Future
