The Best Wand Vibrators for Intense Pleasure
Big Motor = Big O
Paychecks, beds, Texas. Some things prove that bigger really *is* better. But is that the case with vibrators?
To find out I asked, certified sex educator Alicia Sinclair, CEO of COTR, Inc. the manufacturer of b-Vibe, Le Wand, and The Cowgirl whether wand vibrators—vibes with supersized motors that are typically larger than other toys—are best.
Her answer: It depends on what you like! "Thanks to their size, weight, and motor, wand vibrators can deliver really intense and strong, rumbly sensations," says Sinclair. They also have a big, bulbous head, which allows their vibrations to resonate deeper in the body than the sensation you'd get from something like a lipstick or bullet vibrator, she says. So, if you're a power hunter, enjoy edging, or want a vibrator you can use over your pants or underwear, these big ol' vibes really are best. (BTW: Did you know bigger actually *isn't* better when it comes to penis size?)
Below, wand vibrators that'll add some oomph and O's to your sex routine, according to sex educators. Abracadabra, bitches!
Lelo Smart Wand
Luxurious, sleek, and sensuous, this wand is surging with more Big Vulva Energy than Rihanna or Cher. Admit it: The Smart Wand is sexy as heck, which is actually important, according to sex educator with The Pleasure Chest, Carly Steif. "If you're not aesthetically attracted to your sex toy, you're probably not going to use it." And TBH, it doesn't get any sexier than this 100-percent waterproof silicone beaut, which comes in ivory, black, and plum.
"It has an ergonomically designed handle that curves around your bits and will allow you to reach between your legs even while you're reclining in the tub," says Steif. That's why she recommends bringing it into the bath with you. Don't worry, it won't muffle the intensity of the sensation. "It may change the way the water around you moves, but the water won't interfere with the intensity," she says. (See More: 10 Waterproof Vibrators for Shower Sex).
For a long time, "Hitachi Wand" was ubiquitous with "Wand Vibrator." So to *not* include the OG wand-vibrator on the list would be a crime against pleasure. With a long handle and powerful 2-speed motor, the Hitachi was originally released as a back massager in 1968. But for over 30 years, it's been lauded as the queen of (intense) clitoral stimulation. (Related: The Weird And Unexpected History Of The Wand Vibrator).
With it's snake-like cord and boring cream color, it may have less sex-appeal than some of the other vibes on this list, but it's tried and true. As Steif says, "I have a tattoo of this wand… it's that good."
Magic Wand Rechargeable
Originally, the manufacturers of Hitachi Wand didn't embrace that the personal massager was also a bedroom star. But in 2013, the brand dropped "Hitachi" from its name and re-branded as the "Magic Wand." So while its name may not indicatethis, the Magic Wand Rechargeable is simply a more modern, cordless version of the Hitachi above.
"It has a rumbly motor and soft silicone head that you can comfortable press against your bits to make the sensation resonate more intensely or deeply in the body," says Steif. And because it doesn't have a cord, you can maneuver it during partnered play without worrying that a flailing leg or limb will yank out the plug and pause your pleasure. (Why not try using it during any of these 10 best positions for using a vibrator during sex?)
If you've been known to yell, "harder", "faster", or "more pressure" during sex, this is the wand for you. "In my opinion, the Le Wand is actually more powerful than the Hitachi," says Steif. With 10 vibrating speeds and 20 different patterns, the Le Wand delivers rumbly vibrations that resonate deepdeepdeep in the body. It's so intense that even placing the malleable head of the toy against your mons pubis (aka where your pubic hair is or would be) is enough for some vulva-owners to climax. Of course, if you're power-hungry, this baby is body-safe too, so you can press it against your clit or labia for a more intense experience. "You can also purchase attachments that slide onto the head of the Le Wand and allow you to transform the external vibe into an internal and external vibe," says Sinclair. The Ripple is designed to stimulate the A-spot during in-and-out style penetration, while The Curve is optimal for G-spot or P-spot stimulation. ICYWW, "these attachments won't dull the intensity of the vibrations," she says.
Le Wand Petite
This micro-wand actually *isn't* just a smaller version of the above, according to Sinclair. "While it's still intense, it's about 30 to 40 percent less intense than the original Le Wand." She explains that's because the toy is lighter weight (only half a pound), and the motor is smaller. If you crave powerful play products don't worry: "It's still going to be more intense than a traditional clit vibrator or egg vibrator," she says. (BTW: If you're on the market for a new clit vibrator, these are the best!)
BTW: If you're looking for a vibrator to bring on vacation, this one is tops. "It's one of the few wand vibrators with a lock feature, so you don't have to worry about it buzzing in your bag," says Steif. Good to know!
Le Wand Point
Another product by Le Wand, the Point may not *look* like a wand-style vibrator, but Sinclair explains, "The weight, shape, and materials used in this toy allow it to deliver broad stimulation similar to that achieved in a wand vibrator." Designed to cover your genitals, Point is shaped like a palm vibe and is made out of a combination of chrome and body-safe silicone that gives it some heft. In fact, it's heavy enough to stay in place if you want a hands-free masturbation experience.
IMO the best part is that, thanks to the stainless-steel half, this vibe can be incorporated into temperature play. Pop it into the freezer for a few minutes before you use it (but not longer!). Then, enjoy the sensation of the toy "melting" as it makes you melt.
Lovehoney Broad City Rechargeable Mini
I take Queen Ilana and Queen Abbi's vibrator recommendations very seriously, as one should, which is why I originally tried this Broad City-inspired wand. (Psst: This is just one toy in a whole Broad City collection.) While I bought it as a nod towards my Hulu addiction, I keep using it because I love its flexible neck and 10 different speeds/patterns.
Made of silicone and on the smaller side, it's also a great toy to use between bodies. "I can't think of a single sex position that can't be amplified by the use of a wand vibrator, but it's especially great during missionary or rider-on-top," says Steif. Also hot: Use it on yourself while performing oral on your partner. (Related: Everything You Should Know About Performing Oral Sex On Your Partner, But Probably Don't)
You shouldn't have to forego orgasms while on a Lizzie McGuire-style jaunt in Europe. So, if you're looking for a vibrator that you can use with European plugs, Steif says you need this babe. The vibration patterns have a rumbly quality and are I-N-T-E-N-S-E. Seriously, the Doxy can reach up to 9,000 RPM. (For sense of comparison, the Hitachi's highest setting is 6,000 RPM. Yeah, WOWZA.)
Just a note: The head is made of non-porous medical-grade PVC, which is a harder material than silicone. So if you want an end that feels plush against your punani, scroll back up!Or add a dollop of lube, which will make the product feel more glidey and less hard against your bod.
Liberator Toy Mount
Do you enjoy masturbating on your stomach? Is rider-on-top your fave position? Have you ever wished it was easier to use a wand vibe while licking/sucking your partner? If you answered yes to any of these Q's, you should probablyyyyy invest in this plush toy mount. Shaped like a triangular pillow, this tool has little hole that you can plop your wand into.
"This pillow allows you to mount your wand vibrator and have a hands-free session," explains Steif. Kneel in front of your partner with the pillow between your legs so you can grind against the want while performing oral on your partner, she suggests. Or, use it solo to find new pleasurable angles.
