Now that I've moved and settled into my new apartment, I'm close enough to the places I go several times a week—the gym, the Pilates studio, and the restaurant where I work—that I can commute by bike instead of by car. I'm happy that I'm fitting in some extra exercise (I'm definitely feeling the burn on the gentle uphill climb on my rides home!). And because I'm saving a small fortune on gas and downtown parking meter fees, riding is helping my bank account as much as it is my body. Before this, I hardly ever took my bike out. Now that it's a means of transportation, there's no excuse for it to collect dust. All that's left to do is get outfitted for fall and winter riding.
