I just saw a photo from my sister's wedding, which was exactly a year ago, and can't believe how much has changed. I was her maid of honor, and couldn't even squeeze into the dress she wanted me to wear. I remember laughing as I tried to shimmy my way out of it in the dressing room, and telling her that I felt like a big fuchsia pumpkin. I ended up having to order the dress in an A-line silhouette instead. At the time I thought it was flattering, but in the pictures I can't help but notice my round face, flabby arms, and heavy hips. Instead of being depressed, I found the photo totally inspiring. I don't want to look or feel like that ever again. So I put the snapshot on my home office bulletin board, right next to a more recent photo in which I look slim and happy. They are my very own dramatic before and after photo-and more motivation to stay on track.
