Vanilla Spiced-Pear Smoothie


  • 2 large ripe but firm pears, peeled, halved, and cored
  • 1 teaspoon white balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 cup plain low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons hemp seeds, plus more for garnish
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 cup ice cubes


  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees . Line a small baking sheet with parchment. Toss the pears with vinegar on the prepared baking sheet and roast, cut sides up, for 30 minutes, flipping about 20 minutes through. Let cool. (You can do this up to 5 days in advance.)
  2. Add roasted pears, almond milk, yogurt, hemp seeds, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, maple syrup, and orange zest to a blender and blend until smooth. Add ice and blend again until smooth. Divide among 3 glasses and garnish with additional hemp seeds.
