These Are the Most Reliable, Stylish Snow Boots I've Ever Owned
As a native Midwesterner, I've lived through some tough winters. Tough winters, of course, require tough snow boots. These are the stylish boots that have endured ice, slush, and countless feet of snow.
My Go-To Boots All Winter Long: The Sorel Slimpack II
No matter how much I try and avoid it, snow is an inevitability of living in the Midwest. At some point or another, it's practically a guarantee that you'll find yourself shoveling a driveway, scraping ice off a car, trudging through slush, or wading into waist-high snow to take the dog out — all in the same day, all winter long. A seriously tough season requires seriously tough gear, starting with snow boots.
When I was last shopping for a pair of snow boots, I made a list of requirements: The boots had to have a grippy rubber sole, cozy fabric lining the insides, and look cute enough to wear even on days without a blizzard. And, of course, they had to be durable and water-resistant.
I found all that and more in my favorite pair of Sorel snow boots.
The women's Slimpack II Lace Boot features waterproof leather (perfect for avoiding soggy socks), vulcanized rubber soles with a zig-zag pattern for traction, and plush microfleece lining the inside. Its slightly-taller-than-the-ankle height means your entire foot stays warm, and it helps keep snow from sneaking into the top of the boot. And with its light brown and navy color scheme, the boot is a timeless staple all winter long. I wear mine on days I need a bit more warmth while walking to class, no matter how much snow is on the ground. I make them work all day long with casual jeans and a flannel, or style them with fleece-lined leggings, an oversized sweatshirt, and a tall pair of socks for a cute-yet-cozy look. I get compliments on my boots every time I wear them.
No matter what winter throws at me, these Sorels always have me covered.
