Even though I know how important it is to fuel up right, making time to eat breakfast has always been a challenge for me. And now that the weather's warm, the last thing I want to do in the mornings is stand over a hot stove and cook my standard spinach omelet. So my nutritionist, Ashley Koff, R.D., suggested I try a morning smoothie instead. They're easy to prepare, full of vitamins and nutrients, and I can mix and match with whatever fruit I want. Lately I've been blending half a cup of nonfat vanilla yogurt with a splash of orange juice, a handful of frozen blueberries, and half a frozen banana. It only takes two minutes to whip up one of these shakes, and I can sip it at my computer while I write. Even on the hottest days, they really hit the spot. How cool is that?
