If you're still slathering on sunscreen only in the summer months, I'm here to give you a proverbial slap on the wrist. While the sun's rays are weaker during the approaching colder months, they still have the potential to damage your skin, even indoors. "UV rays — particularly UVA — are still penetrating through clouds, and even through windows, and affecting your skin," Dr. Laura Scott, associate director of Skin of Color Division at the University of Miami, tells InStyle. "These rays contribute to premature aging, like wrinkling, and dark spots."

Our team's personal favorite sunscreen for the winter (and year-round tbh)? Resting Beach Face sunscreen (Buy It, $24, everday-humans.com).

Sunscreens have become such a big part of our skin-care routines, so we're understandably picky. No one wants to slather on a thick white cream that leaves a cast and clogs their pores. Bonus points if the sunscreen also offers up additional good-for-your-skin ingredients besides sun protection. Resting Beach Face checks all those boxes and more. It has a lightweight, serum-like texture that absorbs instantly and leaves a glowing finish in its wake. It contains hyaluronic acid and pentavitin to deeply moisturize and plump the appearance of your skin, making it a great pick for the drying winter months. And of course, it offers SPF 30 protection against UVA and UVB rays.

UVA and UVB protection are crucial, because the sun isn't the only light damaging our skin — our computer and phone screens can also emit blue light that can contribute to wrinkling and dark spots. The Resting Beach Face sunscreen uses antioxidant-rich green tea extract, spinach leaf, and kopara (a live sea molecule) to protect against blue lights, heavy metals, pollution, and more. The ingredients also help to strengthen the skin's barrier against future damage and help tone down inflammation.

I've personally been using this sunscreen for about a month, and even though it's still hot in Austin where I live, the formula is light enough to wear daily and hydrating enough to combat the drying desert heat. (Makes sense, considering the sunscreen was formulated in Australia where its residents face similar climate challenges.) I'm also addicted to the subtle "glazed donut" glow it gives my skin and sometimes apply it to my cheekbones over my makeup in place of my highlighter. I try to stay away from brands that aren't mindful of the environment, so I appreciate that the sunscreen is packaged in a Certified Plastic Neutral tube.

I'm not the only InStyle writer who swears by the formula. When I pitched this story to my editor, multiple writers on my team chimed in saying how much they love the product. (Related: The Best Sunscreens Tested and Approved By Shape Editors)

"This is my favorite go-to face sunscreens because it's super lightweight and absorbs effortlessly into my skin," said Jennifer Chan, an e-commerce editor and writer. "It's perfect for layering under makeup and has a nice light, fresh scent, too. When I wear it alone it gives a natural glow to my skin and leaves zero white cast."

"I've been a devoted sunscreen wearer for years, so I know the struggle of finding an SPF that absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy residue," Braelyn Wood, our Health and Wellness e-commerce lead, added. "Only a handful of formulas I've tried in the last decade have managed to impress me — and this SPF serum is one of them. It's incredibly lightweight, so you can easily apply multiple layers to ensure you're putting on enough sunscreen. My only complaint is that the formula isn't waterproof, so I have to reapply after sweating or swimming. But it's a small price to pay for an SPF you can actually wear every single day." (Note: You should be re-applying sunscreen every two hours for best results anyways, according to the brand.)

"I've used this sunscreen for countless outdoor runs this summer and will continue to use it during the fall and winter," noted Christie Calucchia, a Lifestyle e-commerce writer and editor. "I love the way it feels on my skin and that it doesn't even run into my eyes when I sweat."
