Sushi, Salads, and More Recalled at Trader Joe's and Walgreens for Possible Listeria Contamination
Nearly two dozen ready-to-eat products are being recalled in 31 states and Washington, D.C.
Fuji Food Products, a supplier of ready-to-eat sushi, salads, and more is issuing a voluntary recall after Listeria monocytogenes was discovered in one of its production facilities. The company has ceased production and distribution from this facility in cooperation with an FDA investigation. This recall is issued for products sold at Trader Joe's, 7 Eleven, Walgreens, Food Lion, Hannaford, Giant Eagle Supermarkets, Porkys, Bozzutos, Supreme Lobster and Superior Foods. The following items are being recalled in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin:
Listeriosis is a bacterial infection caused by eating food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, and can cause a range of symptoms, from fever and flu-like symptoms to stiff neck, confusion, and muscle aches. Pregnant women, older adults, and those with weak immune systems are most at risk. No related illnesses have been reported to date, but please contact your healthcare provider if you have consumed one or more of these products and are feeling any symptoms of Listeriosis. Fuji foods encourages consumers who have purchased any of the following products affected by this recall to dispose of the product in an appropriate waste container, and Trader Joe's is offering full refunds for the above items.
