Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is no doubt one of the most loved females in Hollywood. Best known for playing Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, her career began in Manhattan at age 14. During her childhood in Louisville, KY, where she was born on August 15, 1990, she began performing in local theatre, but eventually persuaded her parents to take her to New York to find an agent. While walking around the city, a stranger asked to take her picture, and it turned out, he was a legitimate talent scout and soon the phone started ringing. Lawrence eventually landed some small roles, including a Burger King commercial, an Abercrombie & Fitch ad, and an appearance on TV’s Monk and Medium. Shortly thereafter, her family moved to Los Angeles so she could further pursue her dreams.
Lawrence’s big break came in 2010 when she appeared in the critically acclaimed Winter’s Bone, which earned her nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Opportunities continued to roll in for the young star, with big-budget projects like The Beaver, X-Men: First Class, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, House at the End of the Street, The Falling, and Silver Linings Playbook, which awarded her an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best actress. Next came the much buzzed-about American Hustle, for which she won another Golden Globe and received her third Academy Award nomination, becoming the youngest actress to ever have that honor.
In 2013, TIME named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world, while Elle considered her the most powerful woman in the biz. Lawrence has also ranked No. 1 on AskMen’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women, something that’s not too surprising given her gorgeous looks and incredibly fit figure. So how does she keep that bod prepped for the red carpet? The charismatic cutie has been pretty candid about her workouts (and lack thereof), confessing, “I hate saying, ‘I like exercising.’ I want to punch people who say that in the face. But it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It’s like, ‘Here’s your trainer. This is what you can eat.’ So I do exercise! But I don’t diet. You can’t work when you’re hungry, you know?” James Duigan, Joe Horrigan, and Dalton Wong are a few of the celeb trainers known to have helped whip the star into shape for her kick-butt characters, doing a combo of yoga, Pilates, cardio, and strength training, in addition to recommending a healthy diet of lean meats, veggies, and protein shakes. —Kristen Aldridge
