Barbie Ferreira Looks Absolutely Fierce in New Unretouched Campaign

Model Barbie Ferreira is back and looking better than ever in her new campaign with Missguided.

The 19-year-old has been an outspoken advocate of body positivity in the fashion industry, so it's only fitting that in her latest project, she appears completely unretouched in the photos. Naturally, she looks gorgeous. But more importantly, she -- and the brand -- are making a statement. Namely, that "plus isn't the word...it's time to empower women and girls to dress however they want, regardless of size," according to a press release. That's definitely a philosophy we can support.

In a separate press release, Ferreira said that she was thrilled to be working with Missguided. "The clothes are a statement, and anyone can have access to this collection," she wrote. "Misguided doesn't exclude anyone's beauty and they provide a range that isn't like anything else. The clothes are fearless and just in a few extra sizes. The collection can let you be a badass b*tch without having an asterisk or a label."

Amen to that. While the term "plus size" isn't generally a derogatory term -- brands often just use it to refer to curvier models or women who don't fit standard straight sizes -- it's refreshing to see that Missguided understands that singling out curvier women as "plus size" can still problematic in a way. The average woman now wears a size 16, so it's time to stop treating curvier women as an anomaly.
