The inspiring pep talk she gives herself really works.

Danielle Brooks knows that going to the gym can be intimidating, especially if you're new to working out. Even she's not immune to that feeling, which is why she shared the pep talk she recently had to give herself at the gym.

In a recent video she posted to Instagram, Brooks opens up about how she was at the gym one day, working out and feeling good without her shirt on (Brooks often takes her shirt off during workouts). Basically, she was feeling good about herself and life until another woman, who looked super-fit, walked into the locker room. While Brooks was quick to stress the woman didn't do or say anything to her, she admitted that she immediately felt her confidence slipping when she looked at the other woman.

"I was like, 'I need to put my shirt back on now,'" she said. However, when Brooks was able to take a minute and check in with herself, she realized she was needlessly comparing herself to this other woman instead of focusing on her own progress. "Today's Danielle is better than yesterday's Danielle," she said. "Just be a better you."

We love that advice. Ultimately, you can't compare yourself to anyone else. Everybody's fitness journey looks different, and what's important is how you feel about your journey and celebrating yourself when you hit milestones or reach goals that you've set for yourself.
