According to Buzzfeed, Shelly didn't want her daughter Brooke Lee to feel that menstruation was something to be afraid of. Brooke's cousin Autumn decided to share some photos from the party to Twitter, and not surprisingly, they quickly went viral.

"The party was very hilarious but normal for me because I'm used to it from my family," Autumn told Teen Vogue "I think this party helped a lot of people see the correct way things like this should be handled rather than being shamed for your body."

So far, over 15,000 people have retweeted the post and some have shared why they think a period party might be the best idea ever. "Your family is great. That kind of support is so important," one Twitter user wrote. "More parents need to be open and supportive about things like this," wrote another.

Congratulations on your first period, Brooke! Try to keep the celebration in mind when the cramps kick in.
