Find Out What This Mom Did After the Internet Fat-Shamed Her Baby
Seriously, people, can the cute baby just live his innocent life?
NBA fans all over the country have a new obsession: Landen Benton, a 10-month-old, Instagram-famous baby who bears a remarkable resemblance to Gold State Warriors champ Stephen Curry.
Shortly after Landen's mom, Jessica, started a social media account for her son, people began calling her baby a variety of names targeting his weight. Eventually, "Stuff Curry" stuck. But rather than ignoring these Internet trolls, Jessica decided to embrace the nickname and posted a picture of her son dressed in Curry's jersey.
"I'm not going to let them fat shame my baby and put it all over online and I just give up there. I wanted to really turn it into something good and take control of it and say, 'Okay, we're going to own this name. Yeah, we're Stuff Curry. We look like the famous basketball player,' " she told ESPN in an interview.
Turns out, her positive approach to this situation stems from a terrible tragedy. Jessica's 20-year-old son committed suicide when she was pregnant with Landon. "I can't say it's directly due to bullying or anything, but I have one kid who's not here with me who told me that people made fun of him. I'm not going to have another kid think that the whole world was laughing at him," she told ESPN. You go, girl!
Baby Landon and his mom now have over 51,000 followers on Instagram-and he's utterly adorable in every picture. Take a look for yourself.
