Iskra Lawrence, the face of #ArieReal and the managing editor of inclusive fashion and beauty blog Runway Riot, is making another bold body positive statement. (Find out why Lawrence Wants You to Stop Calling her 'Plus-Size'.) Runway Riot just featured an editorial of Iskra and her fellow body positive model friends looking fit AF in sexy athletic wear. And the best part? Every picture is unretouched and raw.
Lawrence first made the news when she turned to social media to shut down body shamers for calling her a fat cow (insert eye roll here). (Seriously, Lawrence Responds to Being Called "Fat" On Instagram in the most epic ways.) Since then, the voluptuous model has proved to be a huge advocate for body positivity. Case in point: this evolutionary editorial, which proves that models who aren't straight-sized are fit and do not promote an "unhealthy" lifestyle.
"It makes me feel good enough not just as a model but as a human. If I can't relate to my own body, how can anyone else?" Lawrence said when asked about the unretouched photos. "Every day, you have to practice self-care to have a positive relationship with your body and self."
The creative director and stylist for the photo shoot, Ashley Hoffman, was very careful about the clothing represented in this editorial. "I chose to feature brands that keep different body types in mind—ideally, everyone can find something in it, and I was very intentional about keeping everything form-fitting," she told Runway Riot.
