Jessica Simpson isn't shy about discussing her self-image. In a recent interview with People, she opened up about loving her body no matter what changes it goes through.

"I always celebrate my body," she told the magazine. "The fact that it made children is unreal...A woman's body is phenomenal in what it can do." Of course, it's not always easy to feel so confident. "It's hard to not see your flaws first," she said. "[But] I think that, as a society, things are changing. And that's great because every body's being celebrated."

A recent Instagram post is further proof Simpson has been feeling celebratory. She shared that she's feeling "proud" alongside a photo of herself wearing a bikini from her fashion line.

"I have gained and lost 100lbs 3x so I never thought this moment could or would happen, but I'm finally spring breakin' wearin' a BIKINI!!!!!!" she wrote in the post's caption. "Hard work, Determination, Self Love. I enjoyed a good proud cry today 💪🏼☀️💛"

"I never thought of being in a bikini again," she said in the People interview, adding that it made her "emotional" to put one on. "And for me, as a woman, to be able to look as good as I feel was a major moment," shared Simpson. "You're proud of yourself and you deserve it...[and you're] understanding yourself and feeling good on the outside. When those two things click, the sky's the limit."

The multi-hyphenate has been open about her triumphs and struggles in all aspects of her life, including her health goals. In September 2019, she revealed that she lost 100 pounds following the birth of her third child, daughter Birdie Mae, that March. Simpson worked with trainer Harley Pasternak on a fitness plan that was mostly focused on making lifestyle changes and walking more. (

Simpson started out by aiming to meet gradually increasing step goals during walks. Pasternak eventually added some resistance training to Simpson's regimen, with 45-minute circuit workouts with moves including reverse lunges, single-arm cable row, hip thrusts and deadlifts.

While she's clearly made movement a priority at times, Simpson has taken breaks from working out and found that restarting her fitness regimen wasn't easy. After a brief exercise sabbatical, she revealed in October 2021 that she was "hurtin'" after getting back on her treadmill.

Though she's let her fans in on her fitness goals, Simpson previously made it clear that she refuses to be defined by her weight and that she threw out her scale. "I have no idea how much I weigh, I just want to be able to feel good and zip my pants up," she said in an interview on TODAY in April 2021. "If I don't, I have another size. I have every size." From sharing that new outlook to her recent reflection on Instagram, Simpson has remained candid about her fitness philosophy and body image.
