I hate buying a bunch of fresh produce at the beginning of the week, only to see some of it wilt away in the fridge by Friday. It's wasteful and expensive. So I came up with a solution: I'll start buying half of my vegetables frozen and only choose fresh ones if I have a specific recipe in mind. During my next shopping trip, I headed to the produce aisle and picked up a bag of green beans to turn into a side dish, mixed greens for salad, and some zucchini and squash to add to pasta. Then I went to the frozen food aisle and got bags of broccoli florets, red, yellow, and green bell pepper strips, and chopped spinach. I can pull them out any time and add them to meals without worrying that they'll ultimately end up in the garbage.
